Can America Afford Another Term for Ben Bernanke?

November 25, 2009

The above video is a horrible indictment of the man who sits at the head of the Federal Reserve. Currently the United States Senate is about to vote to decide whether Chairman Ben Bernanke should get another opportunity to wrongly forecast the economic future of our Nation and control our Banking system. Why should the individuals who sat by and allowed the worst financial crisis in recent American history be given an opportunity to lead us to another economic disaster? How can we put our trust in the hands of individuals who were so negligent in their authority to oversee our financial markets.

From the Huffington Post:

“Will the Senate vote another term for Ben Bernanke as head of the Federal Reserve? Should it?

Two months ago, Bernanke looked like a lock. But now unemployment is over 10% and rising, while Wall Street bankers are stocking up on vintage champagne, ready to celebrate the highest bonuses in history. As head of the Fed, Bernanke committed trillions to bail out the banks while Main Street got left behind. Should the Senate vote to reward him with another term?’

The time has come for Americans to questions those making the financial decisions that affect us all. We can no longer trust Wall Street insiders and tools of the banking industry to endanger the well being of our nation. Our future depends on our ability to challenge these institutions, or be slaves to them forever.

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.” – Thomas Jefferson

As argued in http://euandus3.wordpress.com/2009/12/04/the-federal-reserve-we-screwed-up-but-should-be-given-more-authority/ , Bernanke admits that the Fed screwed up in the housing bubble and should be given even more authority to protect us from systemic risk. You try connecting the dots.
